Regaining Trust

Trust is so important to success in any field or endeavor. Just like anything else, trust can be lost from time to time. When things don’t go as planned, when things take a turn for the worse, when everything that used to work doesn’t, trust can dissipate.

The key becomes…how do you get it back? First and foremost, the leaders must believe that the way you are doing things is the way they should be done. You have spent considerable time and thought to putting the system in place and you know wholeheartedly that it’s the right way to do things.

Then it becomes an exercise of action. Actions are what truly develop trust. What you do is far more important than what you say when you’re trying to regain trust in one another and your system. People will hear what you say but have a much keener eye set on what you do. Words alone will never reestablish trust. Your actions will be far more powerful than your words.

Trust doesn’t and shouldn’t come easily. Trust is an accumulation of believing in something and then going out every day and making sure your actions are in direct correlation to your beliefs. “Actions speak louder than words” definitely applies in the area of trust.
