What You Bring
When I talk about skill development at clinics, one thing I always make sure to mention is that “it’s not so much what you know, but what you bring that counts.” While watching the Orlando – Cleveland game last night the same thought kept popping into my head.
Everyone today is talking about what Lebron did last night. I actually was equally impressed with what he brought. He brought an incredible WILL TO WIN to that game. You could see it in his face, in his body language, in his eyes. He was not going to lose!
Players need to be made aware of this aspect of game preparation. What you bring to the game is also important. And if we can trust that you will do what you do on a consistent basis, then what you bring often becomes the separator. Mike Brown knows what he will get out of Lebron every game; he knows what he does. But last night the entire team benefited from what he brought!
So make sure your players understand it’s not just what you do, it’s also what you bring to the floor every day, every game!

most definately. i agree. i hear my coach say that day in and day out. but what happens when that play is relied upon to bring what it takes to win the game… what happens if he or she has a bad game?
