This is a great time of the year to get a group of 5 to 10 coaches from your area (or anywhere) to come together and exchange ideas. It’s a basketball summit, and it not only gives you new ideas but it reinforces some that you already have. May even give you confidence knowing that others do it your way as well.
Get the coaches together and assign topics to each one. They prepare a 45-minute presentation on that topic then you open it up to discussion for 30 minutes. It’s a great way to get new stuff for your program.
Those who attend must be willing to share or it won’t be productive. Assign topics that are relevant or that are hard to find information on. Be creative and come up with topics other than the obvious. An example might be “locker room signs.”
Utilize this time of the year to the fullest. I am currently on a Top 10 campus right now presenting to a college basketball coaching staff for two days with my partner Brendan Suhr. We are holed up in a film room with no windows but plenty of basketball being exchanged. You can’t beat it!
