Discipline the Player, Not Yourself

I heard Frank Martin (Head Coach at Kansas State) speak the other day at a clinic. He had a great point worth thinking about. He disciplines his players at times that are important to them. Instead of running a player at 6 am, he runs them at 10 pm on a Friday or Saturday night. Lesson here is to execute the discipline during the times the players definitely don’t want to be doing it.
But the point Frank brought up was that 6 am is part of his family time with his wife. So rather than take away precious family time, he does it on the players’ time.

Is it the best way? I don’t know, but I do know it makes sense and warrants some thought!
